Goondiwindi Region is located in the southwest of Queensland, Australia, bordering New South Wales to the south. Here are some interesting facts about the area:

1. The name 'Goondiwindi' comes from the Aboriginal word "Goonawinna" which means "the resting place for birds".

2. The first explorer to visit Goondiwindi was Allan Cunningham in 1827. He was looking for a route between Sydney and the Darling Downs.

3. Goondiwindi is known for its cotton production. It produces around 35% of Australia's cotton.

4. Goondiwindi is home to the MacIntyre River, which forms part of the border between Queensland and New South Wales.

5. The town is also home to the Customs House Museum which was once a border customs house for goods passing between the states.

6. Goondiwindi hosts an annual agricultural show each May, which includes events like art and craft exhibitions, agricultural displays, and horse racing.

7. The region is known for its bird watching opportunities, with over 300 bird species being recorded in the area.

8. Another popular attraction in Goondiwindi is the Gunsynd the Goondiwindi Grey statue. Gunsynd was a champion racehorse from the area in the 1970s.

9. The Goondiwindi region has a rich Indigenous history and there are many important sites and cultural heritage areas throughout the region.

10. Goondiwindi is also home to a number of historic buildings, including the Victoria Hotel which was established in 1865 and is now listed on the Queensland Heritage Register.
